I would normally just let this one die, but today I'm not gonna. (mainly because I'm sick and at home bored). While I agree with and appreciate some of Mikes ideas, like anyone else I don't support them all. I can get behind the grass roots effort of raising money for the project and would be happy to help however I could. Mainly what Fish said sparked me a bit, as I'm still under 50 and act childish on many occasions...with little if any regret.

That being said, the wave project we are discussing doesn't involve the current wave (at least not on the plans I've seen or discussed), but a wave at the Tanner street site where there is currently rubble, potential due to gradient, and nothing aesthetically pleasing at all but a drinking cul-de-sac.
There's debate on how the build of a feature would affect the upstream feature, and while I'm not a hydrologist, I don't feel it would affect the feature in a negative way so as to make it unusable. Of course, that's where plans and studies come in, so I'd leave that to the wave masters.
I do want to see the wave built, and I do have a dog in the fight...a HUGE, RABID, NEEDS DINGLEBERRIES CUT OUT OF HIS FUR dog. I live 22 miles from Rockport. Door to door.

And go there on average 3-4 days a week during summer releases. I take my kids, my dogs, my friends. We clean trash, gather recycling, and have on occasion had to help monitor disputes with the flotsam that shows up from time to time.
The flotsam other than us local boaters, that is.
While we aren't going to agree on methods for fund collection entirely, I think letting the project die on the vine is a mistake, and one I hope we don't make. For those of you that live hours away, we love having you out, and we love your input. Just keep in mind that there are a gaggle of us that go to Rockport more than any other place we go. If you don't want club funds spent on this, that's fine. I can agree with that to some degree. But to say that it should be left alone as a project, I'll never agree with. I don't pretend to know whats best for the Dallas wave, or Wister, or the Tulsa wave. Please have the same respect for our little spot on the river. That's really all I'm asking.
Peace,
Joe
