Re: Cadron Saturday, 11:45 at take-out
Hard to say. Right now the level is at 8 feet and rising, but I expect it will peak out soon and start back down. By Saturday, I don't think it will be at "Flood stage", but it will probably still be 2 or 3 feet higher than when we all went last weekend.
The biggest factor is, Cadron will now be competing with many other rivers for paddler attention this weekend. Many will head down to the Cossatot; some may choose the Big Piney which is not high, but still at a decent level. Cadron is still a good choice for those in Central Arkansas who have Christmas shopping or other obligations and need a shorter day on the river. I bet someone will choose the Cadron, but I haven't heard anything specific yet, and of course there are many who don't post on this board that might be headed there.
I'm thinking Cadron will still be too high for an optimum "clean up" type float; some of the tires we saw may be underwater with the water so much higher. I'm leaning towards the Cossatot for Satuday, and still debating what to do on Sunday.
If you're thinking about the Cossatot at all, 10 to 11 AM at the Falls Campground is one of the "unwritten" meeting times that is usually a safe bet for hooking up with others.

is the cossatot floatable in my canoe this weekend? I've never thought about taking it down there.... but it would be interesting. Especially on a warmer then normal sunday before Christmas. It would add to the many places I've taken that boat to. i cant recall if there are any passable routes for it or not.

I'm thinking I may go Sunday. Betting there will be people down there. Now that I've thought about it, I really want to take my canoe

Now that I am better after my bought with stomach virus? or whatever it was that made me very sick and got dehydrated and at hospital last night for IV fluids to rehydrate me. I got out and about today. I think I may be ok by Sunday. Hope it is something I can paddle or might do the upper Cossotot with others that can show me how to get down it. I would be up for Piney too (Cowper
) but can't be out late, have to work Monday.

New river, new day - time to start a new thread!
I'll get something up in a few more minutes.

All,
I was thinking about trying to paddle Cove Creek from Martinville to Mallet Town tomorrow. If not that maybe Big Creek. Any interest?
