Low profile factory roof racks

Post by Mike_P » Wed May 18, 2011 8:18 pm

Does anyone know if Yakima or Thule hardware fits on all these new cars with factory roof racks that are low profile (no airspace)? I searched Yakima website and ran into a dead end. Examples of cars I'm taking about are the new Grand Cherokees or Subaru Outbacks. Are we forced to use factory accessories?

I'll answer my own post: I ended up calling Yakima & got a bit of run around answer but they implied Q towers are generally the solution for the low profile factory rails but that is more of a "work around" & for some reason the design of the 2011 Grand Cherokee rails are so unique they have NO SOLUTION at this time. I can cross that vehicle of my list....at least for now.

Dennis at OOO outfitted my 2011 GC with some kind of adjustable rail grabbers that clip to the factory racks. They work great.
