THE DEFINITIVE RENDEZVOUS THREAD.
THE DEFINITIVE RENDEZVOUS THREAD.
You'll notice that I had all of the Rendezvous Stickies removed. Thanks Cowper. I did this because it seems like they get lost in the shuffle. So here is the definitive Rendezvous thread for your enjoyment and to promote the event on the message board in the final week leading up to Rendezvous!
First Off, I want to thank all of our sponsors who helped make this event FREE this year to A.C.A. members. *NOTE: In order to get in free, you will NEED to bring your American Canoe Association Card with you.
When you arrive at Rendezvous you will be greeted by the fine folks from the Northwest Chapter and the River Valley Chapter at the Registration Tent and the A.C.C. store. There you'll quickly fill out a registration form, sign an A.C.A. Waiver and receive your car tag. You'll also have the opportunity to purchase some official Rendezvous Gear...
If you plan on camping, you'll be able to pick a spot at random. There are traditionally quieter camping spots, which are further from the main area of Rendezvous. They'll be marked with a sign. If you plan on staying in the Arkansas Lodge, you'll just mention that to the fine folks at the registration desk and they'll take your cash and direct you to your air conditioned bunks. *NOTE: Room rental will run $10.00 per person/per night, but will be cappped for families at a maximum cost of $30.00 per night.
There are a few items to highlight for this years Rendezvous, but none more so than the STAR INFLATABLE that will be given away! For a donation of $20.00 to the Arkansas Canoe Club Instructor Education Fund, you'll receive one entry for a chance to take home a 12' Water Bug Raft from STAR INFLATABLES!!!!! Donations and tickets can be picked up at both the STAR INFLATABLE Tent or the Ouachita Outdoor Outfitters Booth. Big thanks to Ouachita Outdoor Outfitters for donating this raft to the A.C.C. and to STAR for making this possible!!
The following is the schedule of events for this year's Rendezvous. Participate in as much of the events as you like or just find a nice cool spot and hang out for the weekend.

Re: THE DEFINITIVE RENDEZVOUS THREAD.
Jeremy. Is someone going to mention to the folks that run Camp couchdale to have the pool clean this time before we come. I wanted to do roll practice but not in that pool as it was last year.

Come on Karla, we've all swam in rivers worse than that pool...it'll be ok...
Re: THE DEFINITIVE RENDEZVOUS THREAD.
Its supposed to be ready for us, but I'm unsure. If it isn't, we can always just go down to the lake and do some roll stuff there, but I'm sure it will be good to go. See y'all there!

I want to personally thank Jeremy for his efforts to put this event together and to get it publicized!!! What's your favorite flavor of adult beverage Jeremy? I'm bringing you a supply!
Deuce, the ACA sanctions our big events. The cost is $5 per participant. They waive the fee for ACA members!!! Otherwise the event is free! This is a first for the Rendezvous and a bold and wise move on leadership's part!

Re: THE DEFINITIVE RENDEZVOUS THREAD.
I agree and certainly have no problem with that very nominal amount. I only asked because I won't get my card in time to present it at the gate and wanted to be sure I had enough scratch to get in. No biggie. I'M SUPER STOKED AND SO IS EVERYONE WHO IS COMING WITH ME. COME ON RENDEZVOUS!!!!!!!
You come too.

Re: THE DEFINITIVE RENDEZVOUS THREAD.
To Dave, thanks a lot, but I must say that without the support of Marcell Jones, the A.C.C. Board, Bryan and Carrie Galante, Dave Thomas, all of the corporate and personal sponsors, and a host of other individuals and companies, this would definitely not have happened...So a BIG thanks to all of those who have volunteered and are volunteering their time and energy to this event. As far as favorite flavor....anything that is cold and free is a winner!
To Deuce, and to all who are wondering the same thing...I should clarify regarding the A.C.A. cards. If you're a new member and don't have your ACA card, you should be able to obtain your A.C.A. membership number and that is all that we really need for the registration form.
I'm certain there will be other updates as last minute details, etc...are confirmed and I'll continue to post those updates on this thread. If you're wondering about anything and have questions, please don't hesitate to post them here and I'll find the answers.
VIVE LE RENDEZVOUS 2011!!!

Saturday-9:00am: Bryan and Carrie Galante will be leading an informative and entertaining, two hour tour of Lake Catherine, Sponsored by Mohawk Canoes.
On Sunday, There will be no Mohawk Demos available for the down river trip...Shuttle arrangements and times will all be a D.I.Y. type of thing.

Food Update:
For this year's Rendezvous, due to circumstances initially within our control, but at this time are now beyond our control .....ALL MEALS WILL ALSO BE D.I.Y. This works very well for The School of Whitewater Paddling and should also work for Rendezvous. Here's how it will break down and how you should proceed to plan for food.
Friday Night - Ark-La-Tex chapter has it covered with the "Bayou Buffet"
Saturday Morning - Breakfast
Saturday Afternoon - Lunch
Saturday Evening - Potluck - A quick note on the potluck...Bring a dish that would serve your family, plus a few more people. This way we have plenty of food available for the everyone. We'll take care of plates, utensils, and tea and lemonade. The potluck will be held where the video showing normally happens....
Sunday - Breakfast.
We're trying to do a few things that will make the food situation easier.
Coffee will be provided on Saturday morning and Sunday morning.
Just down the road, 4.4 miles is a place called the Red Oak Fillin Station...they make amazing food all day and have agreed to a discount for people attending the Rendezvous. You just tell them you're with the event, and bing, bang, boom...discount. If you're not cooking, this will work out great...Here's a link to a map and directions from Couchdale.
http://www.yelp.com/map/red-oak-filling ... 0Couchdale" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Stay tuned for more details as we're working on getting a food truck vendor to come out for Saturday's Lunch.
Sorry for any inconvenience this causes, but hopefully its not a deal breaker for folks attending the event.

Re: THE DEFINITIVE RENDEZVOUS THREAD.
So Couchdale isn't doing breakfast?
And maybe I am reading it wrong, but does this mean we won't have access to the kitchen/dining hall to heat up whatever we bring?

Re: THE DEFINITIVE RENDEZVOUS THREAD.
That's right Renee....There was a mis-communication on my part with Couchdale regarding the kitchen set-up. Originally, we were thinking about doing the food ourselves amongst the chapters, etc...kind of like at Canoe School...When that thought changed, I guess I never re-informed Couchdale, so they didn't plan on having the kitchen open...And now, its too last minute to get the kitchen staffed. Again, I'm really sorry about this, but I'm certain we can all work together despite this and make it a really great Rendezvous, despite my "brain fart" on the kitchen situation.
There are a couple of options....bring your dish in a cooler and make sure its a dish that can be served room temperature...something like a spiral ham would work well. For the hot food, we're gonna depend on the Dutch Oven Chefs...no pressure guys...
I'm sure with enough creativity, we'll be okay....and I have confirmed the coffee, so you can at least get cafineated for free in the mornings.
Can y'all ever forgive me?

Re: THE DEFINITIVE RENDEZVOUS THREAD.
I'll have my two burner Camp Chef, several dutch ovens, and sundry other pieces of kitchen equipment that anyone will be welcome to use provided Team Deuce is not already using them to cook the competition at the DO cookoff.
You come too.
