It really was an AWESOME weekend!!
Each day at the end of the classes Walter, Marcell, Arthur asked us "did you learn something, did you have fun, did you feel safe?" The enthusiastic answer is YES, YES, YES!!! Thanks to the whole team of instructors and classmates.

I'm not sure which one they recommend but I have both the one Graham listed as well as this one

I believe this one is a little more comprehensive.

Re: Swift Water Rescue
Hey Guys
Thanks for all of the positive comments. The Arkansas Canoe Club is blessed with a group of volunteers that enjoy sharing information. We said it during the workshop but typically the instructors get as much out of a workshop as the participants. We get to sharpen our skills and learn new tricks. Working with this group the big leap was the effective employment of cinches and how to teach that safely in the water.

The Swift Water Rescue Courses are taught from the American Canoe Association Course Outlines: http://www.americancanoe.org/?page=Courses_SR" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (generally level 4 or 5)
More than any other discipline, in Swiftwater Rescue, it is as much a critical-thinking class as a hard-skills class. In general, many instructor teach the material in this syllabus, but I have been in a class with a member of the SWR content committee where he skipped some of the complex rigging and focused on in-boat rescue skills for foot-entrapment victims, which I think is a departure from more traditional readings of the syllabus.
Hope this helps,
Shep
