One of the reason's I enjoy rafting is I can carry my big cooler, big kitchen, full range of dutch ovens and eat well.

Another reason for rafting with full kitchen and dutch oven support is I enjoy cooking with fellow dutch oven bud's like Roger.

Don't get me wrong, I have backpacked, canoe camped, did kayak self support and it is all good. Had my share of freeze dry and other cardboard based food, but good food enjoyed with good friends along a river with raft support is a real treat!

Good ideas in this thread! Hope this trip that started this thread gets their menu down and eats well.

What he said. Consensus amongst my homies is I have a gear problem. Can't deny it, but no one seems to complain when they're eating food (off of one of my plates with my utensils) that's been cooked in one of my dutchies. They also laugh from the other sides of their mouths when they get into my Johnny Walker and cigars. It's all good though, 'cause I like to see people enjoy what I bring. That's why I bring it. :beer:
You come too.

A lot of good ideas here.We usually go the simple route;brown a package of saugage the night before we leave and crack open some eggs,take along some salsa and cheese,breakfast in 2 minutes.Dried fruit and nuts are a nice snack.We usually freeze a large portion of our bottled water and drinks.The water filter is a great idea to reduce bulk and weight.Hot dogs are quick and easy.They have to be Nathans though.A compact one burner stove is all that we use.The pita bread is a great alternative/addition to your bread.Steaks,burgers chicken and brats are always good.

The Katadyn Hiker Pro gets some of the best reviews. Amazon seems to have it cheapest right now: http://www.amazon.com/Katadyn-Hiker-Pro ... B0055QDJBG" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have the MSR sweetwater water filter, and I've had no problems with it. I've used it on many hiking and canoe trips over the last 4 years. http://www.rei.com/product/617913/msr-s ... ter-filter" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

However, when its time to get a new water filter, this is the one I want to get:
http://www.austinkayak.com/products/417 ... ystem.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The gravity system can purify much more water than my pump system, and its easier and quicker. If you are needing a filter for a group of people, I would definitely get the Platypus, it lets gravity do the work and can purify 4L of water in about 5 minutes or less.
