Hey Regud, maybe you can shine some light on exactly what a "troll" is. I always thought they were mythical creatures who lived under bridges. By the way it wasnt me, but I think I know who dun it!

Yikes, that Flickr pic from river right is much more illuminating. I certainly don't remember THAT. Looks like a Little River, AL sort of thing, on a smaller scale.

And for ac_bc, reminds me of the childhood friend who was always running off to tell somebody what you said or did!!

Re: concrete put in richland
Since he lays all this on the ACC, ac_bc must have figured out that "ACC river cleanup" is code for clandestine acts to eliminate river hazards.
Wait till he sees all the concrete we dumped in front of canonball rock during the tot cleanup. Bye bye sticky hole. It was hell getting that concrete truck in there by the way.

Re: concrete put in richland
It def was not myself but just out of curiosity, why do any of you care about this ac bc guy posting on BT? Id imagine most of the eastern boaters couldn't care any less about what rapid was altered 12 hours away. Plus I'd imagine most of you couldn't care less what they thought. So why are we talking about this again!?
Re: concrete put in richland
Heck, if anybody caught me making the streambed changes on my property, I would be toast!
Granted, different situation. But azeebebee really missed the gist of the thread in his tweeter-style statement on BT. Which BTW, was his very FIRST post!
Well, let's see what the guys over at BT think!

So Roger the reason you're talking about this guy is because "he missed the gist", not trying to aggrivate you, just trying to understand. By the way sir, do you remember many many many years ago at the nantahala the trio of Arkansas boaters you paddled with? I was the teenager with a lousy roll whose father kept screaming at him to wear his helmet all day.

Re: concrete put in richland
I would not have cared that he posted it, but he blamed it on the ACC like they ordered it done. This was the work of an individual or small group. Not the ACC. I don't care for people that spread lies.
And for the record I am on the fence on this issue. Leaning toward the "it should not have been done" side. But then again, I don't paddle Richland. Hope to someday though.

Definitely didn't catch him throwing the ACC under the bus when I read it, that makes sense and thanks.

And no, just seemed foolish to take it to another forum with that approach.
As for the Nanty day, if your daddy had to scream at you to wear the helmet?? That explains a lot!!

Glad you're still in the game.

Re: concrete put in richland
I realize that I'm prolly a little late posting this, but what the heck. I can't form an opinion on the matter because I've never run the Richland. I was wondering if someone has a clear picture of the modifications so I could see what all the fuss is about.
I know no-one wants to trek in there while the water is low, but it seems to me that it could be just as easy to hike in with a pick and sledgehammer as it would be to hike in with a couple bags of cement. I doubt that who-ever laid this used rebar, and that the cement was fully "cured" before the creek rose again (cement can take weeks to cure fully, depending on the mix ratio and weather conditions) so it shouldn't be difficult to remove. Not that I'm saying that it should be removed, of course. I do wish to give thanks to who-ever laid the cement if it has actually worked and saved someone's butt. Maybe it will someday save my butt if I ever get enough skill and experience to run the Richland. That is pure speculation, however.
What it comes down to for me is the argument of what's more important, safety, or conservation. You decide.
