Late 80's Blue Hole Canoes

Post by torpedo » Thu Jul 07, 2011 3:56 pm

I'm considering buying two old school blue hole canoes. One is a sunburst and the other is a OCA tandem. They will be sold with 3 floatation bags, 4 paddles, and a throw rope. The sunburst has a perception saddle. The gunnels are a little beat up but the hulls are in good shape. How much should one be willing to spend on this package?

Thanks-

Got pics? Are the gunwales aluminum or vinyl?

I do have pics, the gunwales are original aluminum. I'll send them your way right now.

How much does the seller want for them?

Sunburst: Slow, wet, lots of initial stability. It got me started.
Tandem OCA: I have a 17', great boat! Sell for $1000!

If you're looking at the Sunburst I think you are, it sure looks pretty awesome to me.

I'd love to get hold of a mustard yellow blue hole 16 or 17 footer...
Cheers,

Jason

I've got the yellow Blue Hole OCA. Think I bought it in 1979 or 80. Been garage kept when not on the river. In my opinion, still the best whitewater tandem bought ever made. It also wasn't bad for solo boating. You can see a shot of it on the Tot during it's heyday as a solo boat here (2nd photo down in right hand column).

Like Tim, I'm pretty proud of mine. I probably would let it go for $1500. Have to ask a little more than Tim since mine has a faded ZZ Top "Little Old Band from Texas" sticker on it. :D
