Recommendations for good river shoes

I am in need of some recommendations for some good river shoes. I'm tired of the ole cheap shoes that are sold at the local WM/KM.

I have got a pair of Five Fingers that I just love. I wear my Chacos everyday but the Five Fingers keep the rocks out when on a gravel bar.

Hard to beat good ol' Keens for price, durability and comfort (at least in my and my compadres' experience). Plus, at the end of a day on the river you have stripey feet. However, they most definitely will NOT keep rocks out at the gravel bar. Been thinking about a pair of Five Fingers for that reason.

I'd followed another thread for a while that included the 5 fingers and Five Tennies. On line eviews were hot about the Keens Newport. Since I do a lot of gravel bars and tend to explore up hollows, and since they were on sale I caved in and got a pair of Teva Churns. They're highly drainable and the soles allow scrambling up rocks. But the 5 fingers sure looked good.

I've looked at the 5 fingers but some arch support would be helpful. I searched for the Teva Churns and looks as that might be a good choice. Thanks all.

For a serious shoe that is designed with paddling in mind, the 5.10 Canyoneer looks good. I know they had some at OOO, and a few of the people here on the board have them, but I have not actually tried any on.

The canyoner is by far the best creeking shoe out there. Mind the term "creeking"...
They could be a over kill for anything other than just that.

As I progress in my creeking, I hope to get the 5.10 Canyoneer. But for general floating and wading in silty gravel, I'm OK with Tevas.

I use NRS desperados for kayaking, but Sperry Watershoes for everything else. I have Chacos and Keens and both are bullet proof, but my Sperrys are bomb proof. I have had them for 15 years. Never tried 5 Fingers heard good things though, might rub blisters?

I have some FILA Skele-toes that I like for the water. They resemble the Vibram Five Fingers except the last 2 toes are together instead of separate. That was the selling point for me after I saw a pinky toe get turned sideways on a root in some Five Fingers. Pop!

I'm loving the sasquatch .. The attack is a little more bomber and has better tread.

I am on my 2nd pair of 5/10 Canyoneer II's (bout $149) -- Great for creekin, very large shoe, with best grip in the business. 5/10 also makes a new smaller profile Water Tennie (bout $99). Eli Helbert sported them at the Worlds in Germany. Once you go 5/10 Aquastealth , you can never go back ! Order 1/2 size bigger than normal, as they run small. (reason I'm on my 2nd Pair of Canyoneer II's) 5/10 Water shoes are not cheap, but decent durability and PROFOUND Wet Rock grip, make them the leader in H2o shoe technology. Freddie
