Post by Heath » Wed Jul 06, 2011 6:28 pm

is there anyone renting canoes/ yaks for a float from remmel to rockport.

ive got a few friends wanting to float and thought this would be the best section of water this time of year.

Saw some of this guy's busses down there last weekend, with large canoe trailers loaded up:

I'm pretty sure there is one in Malvern too; he used to post on this board but haven't seen anything lately. Maybe someone else has a name/number?

Heath, you don't need to rent a boat to float from Remmel to Rockport. All you need is a inner tube or two. One for you, and one tied on with your cooler. As they say, "When in Rome..."

Reasonably chilly, but just perfect on a 95*+ day. Just be at the dam around noon, that's when they usually start releasing.
Bring lots of sunscreen and cold beverages, and PFDs for the young ones. I've only made the trip in "real" boats, but I couldn't even begin to count the number of locals in tubes or cheap rafts. It's a great way to spend an afternoon. Also, try and keep left when you hit the ledge and you'll just glide through it. Hope this is helpful.
