Upcoming Event in Bella Vista Saturday, June 11

Experience the fun of summer at Bella Vista Village's 3rd Annual "Paddle in Paradise."

The event, which is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 11, on Lake Avalon, will give locals the opportunity to try kayaks. June 18 was reserved as a rain date.

Beginners and experienced paddlers are encouraged to bring their families and friends and enjoy the day learning about the sport of paddling.

Age restrictions apply; those wanting to kayak should be 12 years of age or older. All participants must wear life jackets. Participants are encouraged to bring their own life jackets and wear shoes that can get wet.

Nonmembers can paddle in the kayaks provided by the vendors. Private, unregistered kayaks are not allowed on the lake.

The event is sponsored by the Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association, Lewis and Clark Outfitters, Ozark Mountain Trading Co. and the Loch Lomond Marina. Door prizes will be provided.

During the event, the association's Legal Department will offer 10 Bella Vista properties in a silent auction from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The silent auction will give nonmembers an opportunity to buy into the amenity-rich community and take advantage of all that Bella Vista Village has to offer. If not present, winning bidders will be notified by a member of the Legal Department.

In addition, the Bella Vista Fly Tyers Club will provide fly fishing demonstrations.

Food - prepared by the Bella Vista Sunrise Rotary Club - will be available for purchase.

Parking will be limited; attendees are encouraged to park at the association's Maintenance and Construction Facility, 51 Huntley Lane, or Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 502 W. Lancashire Blvd. The association will provide shuttle services from the parking lots to Lake Avalon. The shuttle will make trips between sites every 15 minutes, beginning at 10 a.m. The last shuttle ride to the parking lot will be at 2:45 p.m.

Guests who want to park at the lake should enter through the lake's park, off Camden Road. Attendees are urged to carpool, due to limited parking.

Last year there was about 300 people who attended. Show up and enjoy, this will be better than cutting the grass.
