Looking for a canoe partner
Looking for a canoe partner
I am a married male (41 y/o). I want to enter the Raid the Rock race in October. I need a teammate with a canoe to train with. For more info check out http://www.raidtherock.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

[*]I have competed in rtr 3 times. my advice is to train with your team or if running solo train that way.

I also did raid the rock last year. I would say that if you have to rent a canoe, get a big one, and try to use a kayak paddle if you are running the race solo. I think I picked up 10-15 minutes on the leader in the solo category during the canoe leg. I had come off a 22 day canoe expedition (14-15 days of paddling) over a month previously, so if you can just get out this summer a few times with a loaded boat, you can train enough to do quite well.
Hope this helps,

If you want to get fast for the canoe section, come to Russellville and train with the local Venture Crew. We are out there every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30 pm. I am a USCA Marathon Canoe instructor and don't mind teaching every chance I get, you may also find someone that would be interested in racing with you. We have a lot of fast 40 and 50 year olds in our group.
