The Buffalo National River Partners, in cooperation with the National Park Service and the Great American Cleanup, is sponsoring three Buffalo River Cleanups during 2011 along the Buffalo National River. The first Pick-Up & Paddle this season is on Saturday, May 21, Two sections of the River will be targeted, Erbie to Ozark Campground 5.4 miles and Steel Creek to Kyle's Landing 8 miles
Volunteers interested in helping maintain the natural beauty of the nation's first national river by picking up trash and clearing debris along its banks--while enjoying a scenic float--can sign up and join with participating groups, including Arkansas Master Naturalists, Ozark Society, Sierra Club, and Arkansas Canoe Club, for a day of floating and fun.
For further information, please contact Aletha Petty (Erbie/Ozark) at (870)743-2639 daytime or at (870)446-2684 evenings, or Lucia Hawkins (Steel Creek/Kyles) at (870) 420-3246. LAUNCH IS AT 10AM. Shuttles, pick-up, etc. will need to be arranged earlier. Additional information can be found at the BNRP website, http://www.BNRPartners.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Buffalo River Clean Up (Saturday, May 21)
Re: Buffalo River Clean Up (Saturday, May 21)
This portion of river should be a good warmer upper for the middle and lower sections later this year.
I'll be interested to see the weight distributions from the upper, middle, and lower sections.

Re: Buffalo River Clean Up (Saturday, May 21)
I spoke with the organizers, here's a little more info:
If you want to run your own shuttle, just be at the put-in of your choice (Steel Creek or Erbie) at 10 AM.
If you want to coordinate with the group for shuttle, be at:
Steel Creek at 9 AM
OR
Ozark at 9 AM (NOT at Erbie as published in some of the earlier flyers)
Check their website above tomorrow afternoon for updates; due to safety considerations, they might cancel if the weather forecast is unfavorable.
Both sections have an approximately equal number of participants, so the ACC members will be equally welcome at either place.
Besides me and DeBo, who else is thinking of going? Which section? (we're still undecided; Erbie is a bit closer for us, but we could easily be swayed by a chance to socialize with fellow ACC'ers.)
