How Frog Bayou Gauge Correlates Now

Rod C. and I paddled the Frogger yesterday and carefully evaluated the level all the way down. We could tell it was way off and after the run we think it was low low.
The old correlation was 2.0 for yesterday's level. At noon it was right at 3.4 at the new setting and that means it is actually 2.0 when the gauge says 3.4.
It is off right at 1.4 ft.
So it compares to...

2.0 is 3.4 on the new gauge reading
2.7 is 4.1
4.3 is 5.7

Fish if you see this you da man!
It has not been long ago that it was adjusted.

so how does this compre to the old readings, around 4-4.5 was medium right?

After it was last adjusted, optimum level was 2.7'- 4.3'.
By the way it reads now, optimum would be 4.1'- 5.7'.

Well, we ran the Frog saturday and the level was high not far off from the gauge reading. The gauge read 5.63 that morning early and it felt like slightly over 5 ft.
The ender rock near the RR tracks before the Pourover was a pourover itself and the rocks at Pourover were pourovers also.
Rapid Transit was big and kinda washed. Squirters Eddy was full of funny water and the rock was a ..... you guessed it, a pourover!
Anywho I am as confused as heck! I think the combination of river bed changes, water being released to relieve the dam, and the gauge recently being repaired have made it hard to know what your going to get when you head to the Frog. :roll:
In time we will be able to tell better.

The Frog was sure Sweet on Saturday! We made the run from Lancaster to Rudy in 3.5 hours pretty easily.

Yea buddy, I've been on the Frog the last 4 saturdays and its all good!
We even ran laps this sat. on the creek route that opens up at higher levels at the very end of Frog Lake! The normal channel goes left and cedar branches hang down into the current. Right after that there is a farm house where they are raising peacocks. Right at the end of the pool above that there is a creek route that is a hoot when it has enough water.Its like a 150-200 yard long rapid! We barely even scraped a rock going down and thats pretty good considering its just a bedrock boulder garden!

What's the parking situation at Lancaster Bridge? A while ago there was a thread that said the traditional parking area had been posted. Thanks, Cal

Parking hasn't changed yet, he has not had anyone towed yet, some peeps still park there if they can't see the rock. The gauge is right close it seemed to me, boated it sat. and sun. according to the old guage rock upstream of the old bridge crossing, that we used for many years. usgs was close, allways a plus and minus. Right you are, Dennis. The old gauge rock was pretty close to USGS saturday.

Floated the Frog Lancaster to Rudy on Sunday when the gauge said it was 4.1. The riverbed has changed some since I floated the frog about a month and a half ago. At 4.1, many usually more technical rapids were more pushy, but washed out. I'm still calling 4.1 great water. I'd estimate that 3.5 to 4.5 is guaranteed to be fun with the right amount of adrenaline.

Is anyone checking up on the land ownership issue? Parking will get a lot harder on busy days.
