That is such a beautiful canoe!
Seems like a great deal too. Good luck with your sell.

Re: Cedar Strip Canoe
Thanks.
I built it so I could take Lucky, my dog, along. But he keeps moving around and hanging over the side. It's just not much fun. I bought an old Buffalo canoe and he seems calmer in it. Plus it's a lot wider. We've even done some mild white water with the Buffalo and he seems to like it!

Beautiful!!!
Re: Cedar Strip Canoe
I am sure Fred will not toot his own horn so I will. Fred is a fine craftsman and he failed to tell you that he built this boat without staples. To me, this canoe is a work of art. He has two other stip-built boats, both kayaks, and they are also works of art.
The time required to strip-build without staples is much greater than normal method. Everywhere Fred takes one of his boats, people are looking with admiration. The buyer of this canoe will be a proud owner and will want to protect it like a fine piece of furniture. - Chris Collins

Re: Cedar Strip Canoe
Thank you Chris, but I have to disagree with you. The boat was made to be used. I used 2 layers of 6 oz. fiberglass on the outside to make sure it can take normal usage. This does make it a little heavy (55 lbs), but also means that when you hit that rock, or drag it on shore, you only scratch the fiberglass and not the wood.

Very Nice work!! As a fellow woodworker I'd have to say, for as much work and skill that i'm sure went into making that canoe, that IS a good deal!!
If it were my canoe, i'd have to leave the dog home and hit the waters on my own!
Well done, Fred. And i commend you for making it to actually use out on the water!

Thanks Woodystrack.
Actually I'm afraid to leave the dog at home for too long. May not have a home to come back to! He has some separation issues.
I don't believe that the number of hours I put into building the canoe really effects what someone will be willing to pay for it. But it does effect what I would be willing to sell it for.

Wes, I want it, too! I can get to Wichita this week to pick it up . . . might even let you try it out sometime. No kidding, if you don't get it, I'd sure like to have it.
