Canoe School is always fun for a lot of reasons.

We know the main draw is the people we get to boat and visit with.

But there is more!

For me one of the most enjoyable reasons is that catfish dinner. Best catfish and fixins ever for me. Come back to camp from a day's worth of paddling, tired and wet. Then smiling faces fill your plate with catfish, french fries, hush puppies, beans and slaw. Just awesome finish from a day on the water. Thank you Chef Steve and the rest of the crew.

Then, wake up after a good night's sleep, smell the coffee and mosey over to the best pancakes breakfast ever for me. Smiling faces that pile on butter, syrup and tasty sausage then off you go to the breakfast wall seating area, chow down and chat with your buds. Just an awesome way to start a new day on the water. Thank you Chef Dennis and the rest of the crew.

Many thanks to all who make this fun time possible.

Without a doubt another great time, meeting fun people
that love to paddle, eating that catfish dinner after a day on the river
listening to live music by Shannon Wurst sitting on a canoe trailer
not to forget all those campfire musicians, pancakes hot off the grill, fantastic instructors and a big
thanks to our host from Turner Bend.
Everyone involved raise your paddle and
pat youself on the back for a GREAT JOB!!!

Thanks to everyone who had a part in making this happen!! It was a great week-end.

BIG props to the instructors of our group: Adam Willard, Chris Martin, Joe Goodwin, Harlan Hughes & Brian (the one from Louisiana). You guys totally rocked & I learned so much. The River Hydrology demo tank was absolutely awesome

Look forward to practicing my new skills on the river soon & paddling with some of our new friends! Great to see folks we've paddled with before too!

Great water conditions (even with the rain) and even better instructors, plus dry conditions when it mattered (meals, meetings, and socializing). Thanks to all of those who make it so easy for us lazy bums to simply show up and do little else...

I want to thank my instructor(David Loving) and his crew of safety boaters. The river was stronger than I expected and I found myself sideways and knew I was about to swim. Lucky for me Victor Caballaros had the forethought to position himself downstream. I popped my skirt just fine but could not exit. Sheer panic and a desperate paddle brace brought me up enough to yell "Help-I'm stuck" I could see fear on his face at those words so I yell "Rope" and he threw right to me. Because of Felton's WW Rescue class I knew then I was safe. I relaxed and enjoyed the ride in but when Victor tried to pick me out of the boat I was still stuck. Both my feet had gone beyond the foot pegs. I did get out and continued down the river with Victor right behind me. He said if you go over I will jump out to get you. He did exactly that but not for me. The other "older" woman in our group flipped and could not push herself out against the strong current.Victor went in and pulled her out. I saw victor was in trouble trying to get boat and woman near shore in the current but a canoe person from some group was set with a rope and threw it to Victor. Now we were three with two boats-it didn't take much for us to decide we would all walk out. Victor was our hero again as he did most of the dragging of the boats.Victor is 'THE MAN'!! I love you Victor! Thank you! Ann d

Well, I can't let this go on without giving my instructors equal time. James Smith and Matt Plank (and the safety boaters from Kansas City), I just can't say enough good things about them. They are all top Notch paddlers and fun. It was an Awesome day on the water. Our confidence level was at its peak by the end of the day. Each and every student left a better paddler.

I appreciate the NW chapter for preparing to have the perfect water on Friday and Saturday, but may have over done it on Sunday. Great job anyway.

My first WW class, I'll be back.
