hey thanks lucas. ive looked into making a surfboard but finding thick balsa boards was a bit of a problem. back home on the lakes after climbing all day, we used to hop in the boat, fill the hull with water, have everyone sit on one side and then surf the endless wave it created. super fun. what materials did you use? the model is the abenaki and i am studying a few different technique dvds, you tube, and other pamphlets. the most helpful book has been susan van levinson's guide to wood strip canoe building.

That's awesome! I'm hoping to use my board on the endless wave out on the lake as well. I used different widths of western red cedar and Aspen Pine strips. the aspen pine boards i got from lowes and love the consistant grain and white color! Great for contrast against the red cedar strips. to make the inside molds/profiles i used 3/4" mdf and drilled holes in them to make them lighter. then fiberglassed and epoxy just like your canoe.
I also have that book by susan. and would like to make that same style soon. I'll keep your trade/sale offer of the strongback and profiles in mind, but i may end up making my own when it comes time. so if you sell em to someone else, no worries.
I'm going to attempt to attach 2 pics of my surfboard. I haven't epoxied the fin yet so it'll look a little thursty. it's made of walnut and 1/4 hard plywood.

And here is a pic of the inside framework i made out of MDF. it does remain inside the hollow board as structure.

Man that board is crazy beautiful. The accents are very very nice. I'll be taking it off the forms tomorrow night. I have a guy that has offered 250 dollars but he isn't sure yet. I've got to make room by this weekend. I'll include the plans. Sb. Forms. One inner ash stem 2 outer ash stems(already bent and epoxy). A 10 strip football patch with 2 mahogany advent strips.3 10' mahogany accent strips.
