The Jacksonville Stream Team has scheduled a cleanup on the Bayou Meto canoe trail April 2nd and is asking for volunteers. Large equiptment will be available to haul away debris and chainsaws are welcome...
Meeting is at the Reed's Bridge access at the end of Western Ave via Lakeshore Drive off highway 161.

Managed to haul out far more trash than these pictures show. Three tires, a barrel, about 10 to 15 bags of trash.

Stan had already off-loaded and was going back for more...

This was taken somewhere else, but it reminded me of the Kildeer that had a nest in the parking lot at last year's Bayou Meto clean up. Look close - she's standing over her four eggs. This bird was a great momma - when I got too close, she jumped up and ran a few feet away, doing the broken wing trick. When I didn't go for that, she ran at my ankles - I think she was seriously thinking about trying to take me down. Later her mate also joined in the act.
