Richland Creek, Washington County, access
Richland Creek, Washington County, access
I am wanting to float Richland Creek and do a little fishing, and I am curious if anyone has any suggestions or knowledge on access points. As long as the flow isn't too high, I can paddle the 300 yards or so up the White River to the public landing on hwy 45 for the take out. I have done some looking around on Google Earth for a good starting point, and there is a bridge that crosses the creek on County Rd 79, a road that connects Hwy 45 with Hwy 74. Is this a good access point? I've crossed this bridge in the past but don't recall an easy access, but wasn't really looking either. There also looks like a possible access point down Wyman Rd(the road between the twin bridges), and then down Co Rd 50.
Also, what is the next access point down the White River from the Hwy 45 bridge?
I appreciate any help.

fishing blows ,water is very shallow most of the way. i have paddled above that bridge untill i couldn't go any farther. and below it about 2 miles.

Thanks for the info. I guess a better float would be to stay on the White River, maybe put in at Wyman and float down to the 45 bridge?

you can paddle up stream from 45 as far as you need to ! ...are you after whites? walleye ? or smallies? because the walleye are on ! but fishing below beaver dam is better or the lower end of the kings river (romp hole) .and the male white bass just started to make the run up the river .some striper are working around point 12. on beaver lake. but i think it's a little early for smallies to be very active . some are being caught . i just can't fish that slow. and they have caught trout at mt Hersey this past weekend on the buffalo river. i think the dogwoods are the key to the spring fishing! but that's just me!

Thats a good point about paddling up stream. I won't have to worry about a shuttle either. I live so close to Goshen, that I thought I should give it a try. Yes I am trying to find some white bass and walleye. Stripers would be fun, but white bass and walleye are my targets. The lower Kings sounds like a great idea too. I've paddle up river from Stoney Point a couple of miles once, but never down to Romp Hole.
Do you know anything about Bear Creek, that flows into Bull Shoals north of Harrison? I was also thinking about giving that a try if I get a chance.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Richland Creek, Washington County, access
sorry no bear creek info. but I'll ask some homies about it. you know where penhook is? off the blue springs road? that bend in the river is a good spot to target fish coming up river . and the next bend up river Neils bluff. it's the last deep spot of the river ,also another target spot . but i haven't seen any signs of the shad moving around/ meaning fish are still deep.and water temps are too low.i live on the war eagle arm and have a birds eye view of that whole section of river . i know the guide boats have been up in the war eagle arm for a week or so at first light so it's about to happen. even the old men crappie fishermen have just now started to come out.

Well PB, guess it is time for me to find the ole fishing pole.
I grew up in North Georgia and a fresh caught mess of "crappie" cooked in our big iron pot outside was a big time fun thing for the family on Sat evening.
Brings back good memories!

Thanks again for the help. I'm not really familiar with that area of the White River. I'm a little hesitant to go to open water areas where there are big boats with my small canoe, a Vagabond. If you find out anything about Bear Creek let me know.
