Wonderful Richard has been helping with a group of college students from DePaul University and UCA who are giving up their spring break to help Ken Smith with trail building. Richard called me this morning to ask if we can come up with a blowlog. I think it's a great idea. Does anyone have one to donate to the cause?
Cowper, your name specifically came up as a possible source, even of a short blow log.
I'll be headed back up tomorrow, and Richard may (or may not) be headed to Conway temporarily.

Painter Bob, you'd think that Richard would know that, as much time as he's spent with Ken. Hmmmm.

Well, so much for that idea!

one camp-out he made us put it out! the next time he moved away. and the last time we waited till he went to sleep but felt so guilty for "disrupting habitat" it took all the fun out of it. then we all got schooled about the leave no trace, and no big fires with fire rings of rocks. both Eric and myself have never recovered from that horrible night!

just saying! .................but i know a guy that knows this other guy that has a few big ones! and it might be picked up along hwy 65 south of Harrison. in a blow log emergency !

I have some bacon grease saved up along with some sections of hose and maybe a dozen propane cylindars, and keep the chains, wire and rebar hangers at the ready. Tell me when and where, and i will try to start finding a log.

Blowlogs - love 'em or hate 'em.
Kim, if this comes up again there is a very old one in my driveway that could disappear before the termites finish it, and it would be a good thing. Stick to bacon grease, motor oil, and other flammables; this one is not rated for explosives!

PB is right. That log still resides at Group site #1 at Tyler Bend, providing a home for termites and untold other woodland creatures.
We were under a burn ban so it would not have happened anyway.
