"TICKLE ME" RAPID ON NEW CREEK

I have scouted bits of this creek at different times and finally got around to hiking a longer section of it. It completely disappears at the bottom of the valley, vanishing into what looks like glacial till. Upstream of that is several miles of Class II with nice scenery and a well defined channel. Above that, bed rock sprouts.

I'm calling this spot TICKLE ME RAPID:

The bed rock continued for a couple of miles with many huge slab stones in the channel. I have hiked down stream from the put-in about a half mile and there was no bed rock up at that end. I still have about a mile and a half to hike to tie everything together.

Those first two pictures are just great Mike, a very scenic little creek! I laughed when I looked at the first shot and my initial reaction was, "there's Pancho Villa" :)
