Paddling the streets of Metairie

Post by Richard » Wed Mar 09, 2011 12:41 pm

I am visiting my son in Metairie, LA. This morning is the day after Mardi Gras - I stepped outside to find the street flooded and the water rising after a big downpour. It was time to go paddling the streets of Metairie. My daughter-in-law's neighbor and co-worker was adventurous. A video was taken and I am told we made the news.

We are all afflicted with Cognitive Dissonance. The greater our religious, social, financial or political affiliation, the greater the affliction. We hear what we want to hear. We believe what we want to believe. Truth becomes irrelevant.

Movie stars not required to wear PFD!!

Way to go Richard, hope the damage was minimal.

I have worked on the bottom level of a two story Condo that had maybe a foot or so of water in it, and it was a miserable job. That muddy water destroys every thing it touches.

No damage in the apartment.

Next stop is Natchez Trace. Then home.

Did you make it down to Perdido Key on this trip. Look forward to seeing your pics. I travel "in my mind" when I looks at other travelers pictures and it is great fun to take these imaginary trips. Can later make them real.

Please let me know if the azaleas blooms are peaking in the southern areas you have passed through. I want to take my Mom on some garden tours of LA, MS and AL. Arkansas is waking up to spring now and it looks like it's going to be a really pretty one this year. Can't wait till the dogwoods start blooming in northern AR and southern MO. Am ready to get on the road again. Hope you have a safe trip home.

Perdido Key

I was there three days hoping for an improvement in the weather. It never came. Windy and cold. Camped at Wal-Mart for three nights.
