Post by dukeboy25 » Tue Mar 08, 2011 8:57 pm

I am looking for a Kayak and some gear for around $300 to $400 give or take some. I am wanting to get into kayaking with strong rapids.

If you have any good deals, text 870-834-7387 or e-mail t.frans_25@yahoo.com

Thanks,
Tyler

Hello what size boat are you looking for? can you give us more info on your height? shoe size? looking for river runner? creek boat? Playboat?
I have a Dagger Showdown that has been a great all around boat. would sell it for $200 but dont know if its too small for you? its stable and forgiving for beginners and easy to roll, but still thin enough on the ends to do tricks and play. they made three sizes and this is the smallest one at 7' 1" and 52 gallons. paddler weight is 90 to 150. it has been my boat of choice for beginners for many years, but the experienced paddlers like it too. I dont have any gear to go with it though. let me know if your interested. Im close to the Buffalo river/ North Arkansas, So far north that they call it Missouri ( 10 miles from the state line) Its almost Arkansas!
If you think you will like WW kayaking... you're wrong!
You will love it!!!

Do not know your WW skill set, sounds like you are starting out.

If you want to do the "rapids" Harlan's advice is a very good place to start.

WW Clinic fills up very fast so sign up, and continue to look for a kayak.

My advice is to get into as many boats as possible....buy used (which you are) since its usually easy to recover that investment if your not happy. It took me 5 or 6 before i found the one i liked but i'm glad i did. I'm pretty sure this is common. I have a couple boats you are more than welcome to get into to if you would like and once the summer gets here the WW is hard to come by. Also a few of my freinds have a couple boats just collecting dust they may want to get rid of. Send me a PM if your interested, I get out to the ford alot of weekends if nothing else is running just to keep me sane.

Invest in a good helmet and Jacket for sure. Thats my 2 cents!

If you're in Fayetteville come to the UofA hper pool March 15th 7:30-9:0pm.. Its free to students or $5 if you're not.

You can paddle a Jackson fun or 4fun and a hero.

I see you're looking for a river runner and a playboat, if you like the fun series you can actually use it for both river running and play.
