Richland today

Post by hfunkhouser » Fri Feb 25, 2011 6:47 am

I am looking at richland today. This would be my first Richland trip, so I've got some questions for you experts: can we take a compact car, or will we need the 4x4? Anyone else going? Does it look like the water will hold? Anything else a first timer needs to know?

You don't necessarily need 4wd, but you will want some ground clearance. The dirt road is rough, long, and muddy in spots. I'm sure there will be a big group of people there today. We have a group of about 4 or 5. Water should hold.

If it helps any, the put-in is about N35° 46.450 W092° 59.300.

I've taken my Saturn s-series passenger car to both put in and take-out several times, but the road can definately be rough after rains.

I definately would want to take the shuttle at speed in anything with low ground clearance.

Thanks to those who were there to help us! That is definitely the most epic ride I've ever been on. I consider it a significant life experience. :D

Haha, no offense intended, but I think about anyone would consider being in the water a couple of times on Richland on a 35 degree day a significant life experience...

No doubt, Ryan and Howard are much tougher men than me... I was trying to think of a way to bow out gracefully all morning, and I have a drysuit that works just fine!

No problem, my unwarranted overconfidence led to that anyways. I deserve a little :hammer: for it. I really regretted skipping this year's NWA roll sessions after that. Consider it a lesson learned by n00b. I'll take some time to tune it up before I take on something that big (and BRISK) again. I still had a great time, and it was great getting to meet the group.

I'll be out there again, that's for sure.

Just FYI, there will be one more open roll session @ the HPER March 15th. See the link below for more details:
