cadron strainers??
Anyone been down in a while? We are headed that way in about 2 hours and was wondering if we should be on the look out for anything particular.
Thanks

Re: cadron strainers??
FYI - the only access is to park at Pinnacle Bridge and do the short section to Hwy 65, or go from Hwy 65 down. We are working towards a permanent public access, but right now access options are very limited.

Re: cadron strainers??
can you still put in upstream at Guy?
Re: cadron strainers??
There is a put-in north of Guy where Mill Road crosses at N35 21.250 W92 19.000. It adds an hour or maybe a little more than an hour of flat (but fairly swift) water above the Weidower put in that we used last year.
I don't remember exact figures and I can't find the trip report I did for that section a couple of years back, but I think it took me a little over an hour to get from Mill Road to Sara's Wave.
If I find the post, I'll link it back here.

Re: cadron strainers??
I measured it as almost 13 miles from there down to Hwy 65 bridge. How long that "feels" depends a bit on what kind of boat you're paddling; short and slow or long and fast.

Re: cadron strainers??
I couldn't find the post, but I found my GPS track for that day. It is 13 miles total, 8.4 of that above Sara's Wave (the first real rapid). When I went the water was at 4.0 and moving pretty good for those extra 8 miles but I was taking my time scoping out possible access points so it took me just over 2 hours to make the run from Mill Road to CCO, then 2 more down to highway 65 at a more normal pace.

Probably about hour and 45 or so. We were not in a big hurry either. Tons of fun!! It was 3.8 on sat when some went back for more.

There was an earlier report of a pine tree sticking out and blocking the surfing wave at Lunch Spot rapid, but it's gone now.
