William Nealy

Post by mgood » Sun Feb 06, 2011 9:21 am

Does anyone have a good website that sells William Nealy posters? I've heard that he did a LRC one and I'd love to get it (but can't find it online anywhere).

Thanks

I searched also, with no luck. But I did find many other Nealy maps.

That leads me to think it is like the "Nealy" map of the Cossatot River. Somebody did a map of the Cossatot years ago that looked like a Nealy production, but in the fine print of the credits it said "with apologies to William Nealy". And/or was there a similar map for the Big Piney? Either way, I bet the same thing happened with the Little River Canyon map - a local boater with some real talent probably used the idea and style to create a map.

If you have a nationwide cell plan, you could try calling shops closer to that area and see if one has a wall poster - they could at least tell you the name of the author or publisher, which would give you a fighting chance of finding one. But I'd say finding one still in print would be a long shot, if it is not a genuine Nealy product, then it was probably a "one time" press run.

Holler at Mark (the webmaster) at alabamawhitewater.com. I bet it's a one-off too, but If you can get one, he'll probably know where.

Do you mean you can get any of the "genuine" Nealy maps, or do you mean you also have a source for for the Cossatot, Big iney, LRC look-alikes?

There is a "Nealyesque" poster of the Cossotot in the visitor's center that was illustrated by Emily Bryant and layout w/details by Jim Simmons from 1980. i think.
