OT-Earthly Remains

Post by Paddlegal » Sun Feb 06, 2011 5:48 pm

Do you believe in God? Or if not God a higher power? Do you think that when the bible says "The dead in Christ shall rise" it means that left over "you" that was buried? After being pumped full of chemicals and put in the ground in a coffin, in a vault? I think not, I think my spirit or 'soul' if you will, is not a part of my flesh.

How about if you don't believe in God.....do you feel you would like to do some good with what's 'left over' of you?

A young couple, friends of my son, recently lost her mother, their first quote on the funeral cost was $6,000 and that was for a cremation, luckily an uncle had the money.

I was going to donate my cadaver to UAMS, but it has to be embalmed :shock: , when it came down to that, I just got the grossest feeling, YUCK!

I just donated by earthly remains here....

If you have seen Silence of the Lambs, you know about this place. This is the training ground for the FBI's forensic training and the University's anthropology teaching.

I will sleep out under the stars forever and never have to worry about the weather. When the birds and the bees and the wind and the rain and the assorted bugaboos are all done with my earthly remains, :lol: I will be cremated and any remaining bone fragments are retained for teaching and forensic research. And while that is happening, students and law enforcement will learn from me, and I will contribute a good thing to humanity.......knowledge.

It will only cost my son $500 to have the funeral home drive my remains to Tennessee.

This is a fairly new facility. The Body Farm was created in 1986. Still room for your ol' bones my friends.
I've felt the touch of healing hands, neath the willow trees and birch, cause the water's my religion, and the river is my church. Kenny

Connie, I hope you're not having a bad day. I've prepaid cremation and it was around $1500.00. My remains will always flow with the Buffalo. It's the funerals that cost too much money. I'm sure when the time comes my friends will all hold hands and celebrate by the river!

There are only a few of these forensic anthropology facilities in the country where students, researchers, and law enforcement are able to study decomposition rates and all the variables associated. Besides the UT-Knoxville facility there is actually a brand new one at Texas State University -- San Marcos, that was completed in the last few years. It is actually in the middle of the ranch (Freeman Ranch) the school owns and operates just outside of town, as to not bother neighbors. Anyways, if you would like to donate your remains to a program west of the Mississippi then visit;
