Anyone close to Southwest AR.

Post by daxhaltom » Tue Feb 01, 2011 7:50 pm

Anyone close to Southwest AR looking to do any paddling soon. I live in Texarkana and would like to try out the Little MO or anything else that may be going. I have a canoe and a creekboat. Would like to get in one of them this Sunday before the big game. If we still have any water is there anyone looking to hit something??

We tried to go yesterday decided at the last minute before getting on the water it was to cold for us. The Little MO is very rain dependent will need more rain to even make the lower doable by Sunday. If you have never done it it is very fun but 4 ft. is minimum for the lower, 5.25 is the lowest I would want to do the upper have done both at lower levels than I have listed here at minimum but not very inclined to do them below again unless fortunate enough to catch in say July August.

Does anyone know if is much snow on the ground anywhere close to the Caddo, Little MO, Ouachita? I am ready to check out some of these rivers I have not been on. Anyone in the SW AR area let me know if you know anything that may be running after the snow melts some.

Caddo is at 6.11' this morning. That's close to minimum but should be floatable.

Is that a reading from the guage on the computer or a visual? I know that the guage was reading a little off. Does anyone know if that gauge was ever fixed to read the right depth.

Ever since the flood I add .40 ft to what my minimum flows for the Caddo were. The USGS reports nothing wrong with the gage. The river has just changed. So, 6.4 ft for a minimum kayak trip and 5.7 ft. for a float/fish trip.
Dragover will still be good for tomorrow. Around 3 ft. is still alot of fun with no chance of scraping. It's gage shows 3.11 ft. now and on a slow fall.

Thanks Jim. I have been curious about that guage since it was first talked about on here.
