Buffalo takeout info needed...

Post by panicman » Sun Jan 30, 2011 10:47 am

Hey Buffalo regulars what are the easy takeouts down river of kyles. By easy I mean taking out with a 14 foot oar rig and not alot of help. As I remember pruit is pretty flat but i can't remember the others.

thanks

Take out at the low water bridge at Erbie would be easy. As you say Pruitt. Next would be Carver. Ozark and Hasty would not be fun. Mt Hersey would be doable but it would not be on my list. A few miles below Mt. Hersey locals put in at Cane Branch. Woolum would be good if you are going that far.

Cool, thanks. just wanting to map out my options when i do some over nighters with the rubber this season. I can always break down the frame on tougher spots.

You really haven't lived until you drag your raft up kyles ramp by yourself. Carol and I do it in pieces... gear, oars, frame, cooler, boat. Doable with our small boat but not sure I'd even try with our 14, it weighs a ton. Working around everybody else at the ramp can be a cluster too, would love to know if you find a flatter take out a little ways down. Then the question, how would we get our vehicle shuttled there?

Any ever use one of those SOAR 16 footers.

They look like a great gear hauler and combo raft / canoe.

Looks like an ideal Buffalo multi nighter.

I have taken out with my 14ft hyside at kyles one time. Pain in the but with all the river trafiic when it was warm. Will never do that section again on a warm good water weekend unless I am river camping all the way to pruit. The ocoee is not that crowded on a holiday.
