Re: Anonymity on the Message Board
I guess this is a good opportunity to bolster the Dave (Renfro) Mows Grass brand image. Dave Mows Grass is a metaphor for something but I have no idea what, since I do not mow grass and intend to never mow grass again. My grass-mowing days are over! I'd gladly add Dave (Renfro) to my signature line but the notoriously long-winded Proustman has used up all my space. Peace!

Thanks Medium Ryan! Sorry I missed you guys on the 'Tot but I still had a pretty good 40th: played two rounds of disc golf, ran four miles, and wore my kid out at three seperate playgrounds. I refuse to age!

Dear Board,
I support Gordon's request. I would prefer message board user to have their real names. I hope the Board will give this issue consideration and work toward a resolution.

Re: Anonymity on the Message Board
I would encourage everyone to include their name somewhere in their posts or profile. Being an older boater, it does help jog my memory. When I write a note to another member I would prefer
to address them by name. I'm old-fashioned in that way but it feels less awkward and more sincere to me :)
On the matter of indicating where a member lives, I also would encourage everyone to list their town or community, or at least the part of the state where they live. Besides just being a subject of interest, it's a handy thing to know if I invite someone to come join in on a float. If I knew they lived across the state, or out of state, it would be a consideration.
Best Regards

Re: Anonymity on the Message Board
In accordance with Gordon's initial post, I changed my "profile" or whatever to reflect my name. Unfortunately (?) the change does not reflect my member status, but everybody knows who I am. When I meet someone new on the river, I no longer have to add my message board name to the introductions.
Having your real name or a part thereof somewhere in your post would really be nice.
Do we have room for a dedicated trip planner section?

This comes up every year, and every year gets ignored. Deal with it. It's the internet for god's sake. Whoever wants to share their info with the world, feel free, otherwise, just let everyone else keep their anonymity. Hell, half of the people on the water call me jermdog, just because of this mb. Not that hard to figure out my name from that. As for my last name, it's mine.

This coming from a guy who not only WATCHES but also ADVERTISES his affinity for Turtle-porn... I can see why you wouldn't want your name attached to that kind of debauchery...jermdog wrote:This comes up every year, and every year gets ignored. Deal with it. It's the internet for god's sake. Zach, I'm into turtle porn and you're into having sex with men, we are just all different.
And Jeff, No way will I be back for this season, maybe 2012, if the world still exists.
