We do a lot of trips over to the National Wildlife Refuges and Wildlife Management Areas along the White River futher south of your area. We also like the Buffalo, Strawberry and the Black Rivers which are closer to you. These are mostly flatwater paddling trips. The Strawberry and the Buffalo are mild whitewater. I do not know of anyone who routinely gets out on the Mississippi. There will be a schedule of trips for this spring later on.
Trips will be posted on the Recreational/Touring message board and are open to all. Keep an eye on the message board and join us. You will meet other paddlers and find many oportunities to get out on the water with great people.
I also highly recommend taking the Recreational Paddling School on the Spring River this summer. Look for dates to be posted here.
Welcome!
