Congratulations to Carl for his new Odyssey 14! I'm glad that he was able to take advantage of his ACC membership discount. Just another benefit to becoming an ACC member. Thanks for the business Carl!

Dave,
After I picked up my new Oddyssey today, I stopped at the Piney near I-40 just to get it wet. It was blowing pretty good, but the boat was very stable. Even with my beginning J-stroke, I was able to quarter into the wind without getting pushed around. I paddled for about an hour and think I'm going to really like this boat!
When I got home I measured the gunnels at 32" (3" wider than spec)which raised the bow to 20" (1" over spec). With my size at 6'6", 250lbs, and being beyond a certain age, I think the extra initial stability is a good trade off for whatever I am having to give up. It was hard to tell about speed with the wind today, but I think I'll be able to keep up with most folks I paddle with. I also think the extra ridgidity you built in will be great! Thanks for all the custom work on my boat. I added the bungee straps on the end decks you had showed me at the Rendezvous to hold my painters as soon as I got home.
Thanks again Dave for all your help all the way through the process of finding and buying my first canoe! If you ever have someone who wants to try out your "Fat" Oddyssey modifications, just give them my name and send them to Little Rock!
See you on the water. All

What is the difference between the Odyssey and the Solo 14/13?

Re: ACC Discount on Mohawk Canoes and Services
The Odyssey is a deeper boat which results in a little more volume in the ends. Also, the Odyssey has more rocker over the Solo. Basically the Odyssey is a little more aggressive boat. However, the Solo is more stable and more forgiving in the wind.Karla wrote:Dave,

I'm thrilled to know that you're having good times in your new boat. It sure is nice of you to offer your new boat for folks to try. Don't be surprised if you get taken up on your offer. Thanks again for the business… and the brews. I’m particularly fond of the Paradise Porter. See you on the water!
