Campout November 6th?!?! Update: It's On!

Post by GN YAKN » Tue Oct 12, 2010 4:10 pm

Been considering hosting a campout on the weekend of November 6 at our place near Fern, AR. Hate to follow so close on the heals of the Barton's Halloween campout on Richland, but Nov 13th is opening weekend of modern gun deer season so we want to get out and play in the woods before then!

Let me know if you might want to come hang out with the Mill Creek Freaks on Saturday November 6. Thought we could do some hiking or boating, both dependent on water. Have several really nice hikes close by, Devils Canyon, Fern Gulley, and Whiterock Creek to name a few.

If we have interest, and water, we may try to get a key to the lower Mulberry access and do a trip on the 4.5 mile section of river we like to call the Home Run so folks can learn about the access and check it out.

We're in talks with the Forest Service for a "seasonal opening" of this access during late Spring into early Summer and it would be fun to show off this section of river.

Post up and let's see what shakes loose. I'll get up to bpaddlin if I can get my chores done in time!

Update: Party is on.

Dave

Just and FYI but there is a "youth hunt" the weekend of the 6th and 7th. youths 15 and under are allowed to use modern firearms that weekend to hunt deer. Most of them will be acompanied by adults. Might want to consider that.

Thanks! Will keep that in mind and make sure we wear our hunter orange that weekend. Would not have thought about the kid's hunt.

Sounds like a good idea to me! Thanks for offering your place up for a good time just waiting to be had.

Your welcome. Main reason I broought it up was to keep everyone safe. I myself am accompanying my own "youth" (Hannah a.k.a. 'Sparky' a.k.a. 'Miss Giggles') that weekend.

Seeing that there are no dissenting points of view out there....
.....let's do it!

Campout is on and all of our ACC buds and buddettes are encouraged to come camp on our paddler friendly spread. Show up early Saturday AM and we'll organize an appropriate activity dependent upon conditions.

Options include hiking, biking and/or boating. (1.7 on gage min) We'll potluck dinner on Saturday and have live music following din din.

This will be a family friendly campout. Dogs are tolerated if they're tolerable, and don't get in my chair. Quiet hours, midnite till noon, strictly enforced.

Will post up further info and other details later. We're located 4 miles North of I-40 on Hwy 215.
