Hey guys,

Next time we have reliable water, what do you say we try to get on lower brushy creek. It is a tributary of the lower beaver, just north of long creek in central Taney county. I have been wanting to do it for a long time. If you have done cane creek it should be similar.

Or if the Swan drainage is the place where the water falls, Bilyieu creek holds water for a long time and looks fun. I have seen it floatable late after driving home on that road after flooded swan creek all day.

Or if northeast christian county gets it I know of a 10-12 ft waterfall on public land off of marshfield road. Roadside with parking.

Or Turkey again.

Dan

What about White Water? I'd like to play in the wave pool and run the big slides!

Hey Brent!

Last time I was down there I heard talk of recirculating (via pumps) Roark in conjunction with the park improvements that are (were) going on the river left side of the run. The run has a lot of potential for multi use. Trails, hiking, biking, and its already in an attraction. But I can promise you it wouldn’t be the first proposal put out. Until Branson and their mindset decides it can be done in accordance with their idea of what they are all about (i.e. Andy Williams and “shows”) you are into a brick wall. Not to say it won’t happen, but it will take a change of bureaucracy to make it a reality.

And not to put a damper on the ideas of a private business owner coming to the rescue, but I know Matt pretty well at Dynamic Earth. He is about to get out of the whitewater bidness. There is not enough interest here, nor is there any kind of support or follow up from the local club and boaters up here for him to be able to make enough sales with his major vendor (Jackson) to even keep him on their radar. LL is out for a while for him. Last I was in there, he told me he was not ordering any more WW equipment and was asking if I knew anyone who was interested in purchasing so he could liquidate his present inventory. Instead, he is turning to the rec side which is booming and will make him money! No fault of his. He is running a bidness. The fault is ours and after the beans are counted, that is the reality. He would supply our demand, if we had one.

But the Dream (by definition) will never die!
Keep Your Stick in the Water!

Terry,

Sorry for the slow reply, I couldn't get logged in to the message board this weekend. All this banter about Roark is just tongue in cheek. No offense intended to the O'Reilly's. You would not have to look much farther than the Nanatahala or Ocoee to realize it is probably financially feasible, but then there's those thounds of rafts you have to deal with constantly. Tis not a perfect world. OK rain dependent is not so bad.

However unfortunate for Dynamic Earth and the O'Reilly's I spend the majority of my whitewater dollars out of town or by mail order. Tough town for one much less two outdoor shops to make it. Or is that three if you count Bass Pro. Anybody know Johnny? Would he be interested in Roark?

Brent

There have been a few options discussed for creating a more consistent whitewater feature in the SW MO area. I have been trying to drive this effort lately, taking the lead from people who came before me. Anyone who is interested, I'd be really excited to discuss it with, and open up discourse for the possibilities open to us. Message me or call me 417 773 1389
