Man, it was tough to leave the Mulberry River and the Valley of Love with four inches of rain in my rain guage on Friday morning, BUT, I'm glad I did!
Had a wonderful weekend at Rendezvous hanging out with old friends and making new ones. This was my first weekend back in a boat since knee surgery in July and everything worked like it was supposed to!!! It was great to have the ledge at Rockport as a testing ground to see how/if I could paddle. AND, it felt GREAT!!!!
Sure enjoyed meeting Michael from Memphis and listening to his fabulous slide on the Dobro. Now that I'm thinking back to the evening, I can't believe we didn't play some Curtis Lowe!!! I think we played about every other tune we know! Michael kept on playing the late night set and continued to gain fans and keep em entertained. It was great!
Also really enjoyed meeting David Lewis from Little Rock and hearing his original tunes. What a great musician and all around nice guy! Can't wait to get back together with these fellas and play some more music. We had a blast and meshed really well for having met on the spot!!! Testament to the musical talent they brought to the event to be able to jump right in and lay it down. Only thing that was missing was our trumpet player?!?!?
Thanks to all the volunteers and attendees for making this another (17th) successful and memorable Rendezvous!

Rendezvous was an awesome time! Having been my first time to attend the event I thought the turnout was good, but I heard that it's gets even better. That being said, I'm already excited about Rendezvous 2011. I would like to give a BIG thanks to the ACC for holding the event and all the volunteers as well. Especially the ACC officers and members who gave their time and energy coordinating the activities to ensure all the smiling faces. In addition, I would also like to give thanks to Wade W., Ryan V., Diane C., Brian and Carrie G., Micah B., Painter Bob, Tom K., and Dave R. for their contributions helping me out before and during the event. I couldn't have done it without you guys.
Rendezvous gave me a chance to increase my paddling knowledge and meet all kinds of wonderful folks in the process. Paddlers have got to be one of the most kind and generous groups of people on the planet. I know that there were quite a few newbie paddlers in attendance and that was great too.
RENDEZVOUS!!!

This was our first ACC event and my son and I had a wonderful time. I really appreciated the time Dave spent with our kids (mine and my buddies) teaching them the basics. OOO and OMTC were great about providing kayaks to demo. A huge thanks to Dave and Mohawk for the loaner canoes for the float on Sunday. We are already looking forward to next year's event.

This was my first time at Rendezvous, and it was really great. Met a lot of nice folks and the facilities & food were just excellent! Couple that with beautiful weather and two days to exercise my limited boating skills at the ledge...couldn't ask for a better weekend!
Special thanks to Ray and the crew for letting me tag along on the float from Remmel and to Dave & Dave for letting me sit in on the music, which was just an absolute hoot...and to everyone who hung around for the sing along afterward. I'll brush up on some lyrics before next year!
My compliments to all the ACC folks who put this thing together and make it work so well!

This was Clan Crawford's 1st Rendezvous and we had a blast. Many thanks to all the volunteers who made it possible. Great food and facilities. Miss Giggles a.k.a. Hannah got a new boat (OOO got in my wallet
again) and got to paddle it both days.
Thanks again to Gary and Karla for the loaner skirt and Josh F. for the use of a helmet for the Remmel to Rockport run. It was great seeing old friends again and making some new ones. Looking forward to next year already. Joining ACC last year was the best thing we have done since we started paddling.
Carl, you are a braver man than I. I

would have loaded the Versaboard up, carried it Rockport and put a "for sale" sign on it. Not only did you paddle it the day after you won it; you stood up on it and later used it as a kayak transporter.

to you Carl S.

This was our first time to go to Rendezvous and although every time we tried to stay longer than two hours, something unfortunate happened. Gladly, I can report that Madi's ankle is healing and she dumped her crutches this week! Thanks to all of you who were so fast to act and help us when she sprained her ankle on Saturday morning at Couchdale.
Madi is proud of the handpainted Toms she won in the silent auction. I'm going to look for more guitar picks that might be paddling oriented to make more jewelry.
We WILL be back next year and hopefully we will be able to enjoy more of it!
