Rendezvous Lake Paddle and Geocache Treasure Hunt UPDATED!!
There will be a Geocaching contest and paddling trip to the falls on Lake Cathrine at Rendezvous. There will be 4 caches and a very nice prize for the person who locates the final cache first.
We will meet at the lakefront at Couchdale at 1:30pm Saturday afternoon. We will be shuttling to Lake Catherine State Park to start our paddle.
Geochachers! Bring your own GPS and know how to use it! I will not have any to loan and we will not have time to do a formal class. If you are a novice GPS user and can get one for this event I will try to help with any questions.
Remember that another factor in this event will be the speed of your boat!
I hope we have a lot a geocachers participating. The prize is a good one!

Thanks to all who partisipated! I had a lot of fun and learned a lot about making improvements for next year. We had four geochers and three prizes. Donna got first place and got the goody filled dry box. Now she has to go to the swamp with us. Karla and Gary got second place and got a thermacell mosquito fogger. Someone please remind me of the third place winners name, please! He got a small dry box. I was sorry that our fourth went away with nothing until he ended up winning the raffle Saturday night! Congratulations Carl! How's that Versa board going to handle in the swamp?
Thanks Everybody

The treasure hunt was a lot of fun, especially the leg across the widest part of Lake Catherine with twenty bass boats closing on us at high speed. And while I didn't exactly win a ducky, I became much more proficient at using my GPS, which was a very big prize itself!
Thanks for putting this together Debo, maybe next time we can do it in the swamp where the prize is finding your way out...
The Versa board gets a little wet with my weight, but it would be cool standing up through the swamp (like I've seen Cowper do a few times). When things get tight you can just lay down. (I did this to go under a downed tree that I probably wouldn't have cleared in a kayak.) However, after giving it some thought, the swamp gunk is bad enough on the outside of the boat, I'd hate to think of what the Versa would look like after a trip or two...

Howdy all. I'm the one who took the small dry box. I would like to thank Carl for the ride to the park after I locked the keys in my truck. Congrats on the board Carl. Donna, Karla, Gary and the rest of the folks, thanks for a great first rendezvous I'm looking forward to next year when I may have a little more time to visit

Thank you so very much for this event, DeBo! It was ever so much fun. Thanks also for the great prize. That sprint across the lake was invigorating to say the least, I just about got my kayak kicked! Oooooeeee, it was a little scary when it appeared that we were being charged by a cavalry of roaring motor boats. I'm looking forward to Swamp Season!
Re: Rendezvous Lake Paddle and Geocache Treasure Hunt UPDATED!!
Thanks to you all. I hope that you; Donna and John will join us for some swamp paddling.
And, a huge thanks to Cowper for helping me get those caches out on the lake at the last minute with the motor boat!
