Rendezvous - Gear Swap

Post by Dave Thomas » Thu Aug 26, 2010 9:42 am

Well hopefully like the daily temperatures, prices on gear will too be falling at Rendezvous. Anyone bringing boats and/or gear to Rendezvous to sell or trade?

I have a 12' fiberglass pirogue made by Bobcat Boats that I'm debating wanting/needing to sell.

Interesting design. Even if you decide not to sell it, you should bring it to Rendezvous so I can check it out. I've never paddled one.:poke:

Here's a link if someone wants to check it out:

I had planned to bring it. It is strictly a still water boat. The hull is concave, so it is extremely stable. You'd fall out before you could ever flip it over.

We may be looking for a squirt boat for my 9 yr old son. We are going to let him try it out at Rendezvous and kind of go from there, to see if he likes it. We also have an Old Town Canoe that has only been used once that we may want to sell or trade for another kayak. Looking forward to meeting everyone...this will be our first ACC event!

Joe, I'm not sure what you used the piroughe for, but they're really popular with duck hunters. My dad's had one since I was about 15 or so, great to get to hard to reach blinds or anything else where you just can't get a boat in, you'd probably have an easier time selling it to that group.

Turns out it is not made by Bobcat Boats, but it is identical to the one they made and has the same specs. According to the hull ID, it was made in '96 by Bistineau Fiberglass Co. of Poteau, OK. According to an internet search, they are no longer in business. I bought it from a gentleman who won it in a raffle. He never used it and knew nothing about it. Anyway, here are some pics. It did not come with seats. I added the carpet and the seats just rest on the hull, so they can be left out or positioned any way you like.
