Mohawk Canoes donated to local Scouts

Post by Dave Thomas » Fri Aug 20, 2010 2:49 pm

The following photo of an XL-15 is just one of three canoes being built and donated to Fort Smith area Boy and Girl Scouts. Mohawk is proud to support the community's youth, especially when it gets them paddling our local lakes and rivers. Also, a big thank you goes out to the Eagle Scouts who lent a helping hand in building the canoes. May the Boy and Girl Scouts have many safe and happy times with these new canoes!

I was a Cub Scout once...does that count?

Kidding aside - that's a fine deed - good on you and Mohawk!

Oops, I forgot to mention that there was a Webelo Scout helping as well. Actually, if he was given the opportunity to operate the power tools, I think that he would have out performed the Eagle Scouts. Never underestimate young people's ability to quickly learn new skills. Thanks again for the help fellas!

Thats some seriously good river karma you got building there. I should hang out around you and hope some of it rubs off!
I think I'll become a scout leader just for the chance to paddle those boats :poke:

Hey, it's just one hour a week! :lol:

It's frustrating, I have a class this term that meets when the troop I help out meets, so I don't get to help out as much as I'd like. If you've never volunteered to help out a scout troop, I'd encourage you to try it out. You really can make a positive difference in the lives of many guys.

Dave, you all are awesome!

-Tony

Mr Tony, I think I just may be interested in helping out after all. These kids need a positive influence who is skilled in the outdoor arts. I don't necessarily qualify in any of those categories, but what the heck!

I bet Troop 71 in Conway would take you up on that. Here's their link: http://www.scoutlander.com/publicsite/u ... x?UID=2487" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
