Dont know where to go from here (next boat Class III & up)
Dont know where to go from here (next boat Class III & up)
I'm looking at getting a new boat.......My first boat was a remix XP9 and started on piney and worked my way up. Now for me its Galla, Falling water, cossatot.....anything class III working my way into IV. My problem is my XP is too long......great boat! just too long. I'm been looking at the burn, hero, and jefe. Chirs kuntz is trying to sell me on the hero. Which it seems to be a great boat, but I want to make sure I take a look at them all. I like the burn but seems like it might be a bit harder to roll than the others. The Jefe seem like the safest but alittle long. Just wondering if yall wouldnt mind throwing my a few ideas. I'm going to make sure I get into each one before I drop the big bucks....thanks

Re: Dont know where to go from here
I had a Burn and it is a great all around boat. I found it to be a little harder to roll until if fixed the outfitting for a much improved fit. Then it rolled well. Great river runner all around boat.
I have a super hero and am very pleased with it as a river runner medium gnar creeker. For most runs I make these days the super hero is my boat of choice. Fairly easy to roll, pretty much takes care of me when I make mistakes and the only kayak I have ever owned where I did not have to do the outfitting over big time.
Never had a Jefe, but from every thing I hear they make a fine creek boat.
You probably cannot go wrong with any of these three boats.
Hero has the fun hull and rocker deck. which gives you a ton of foot room, great stability on drops from tail enders and surfing abilities are top notch.

If you don't have a canoe, you really don't have a boat.
We are all afflicted with Cognitive Dissonance. The greater our religious, social, financial or political affiliation, the greater the affliction. We hear what we want to hear. We believe what we want to believe. Truth becomes irrelevant.

If you do not have a good selection of kayaks,
several canoes,
and
at least one raft
you really don't know how much boating fun you are missing

I agree with okieboater. I have fun paddling all kinds of different boats. I've even taken a Ducky down the Piney River at a low level doing freestyle moves to entertain myself. Paddling a Ducky freesyle...I call it a frucking good time.

So, back to your original questions...
I like my Hero for that same reasons as Okieboater. Forgiving, easy to roll, and the outfitting is super easy to adjust.
However, any boat that keeps you going back out to the river is the right one!

If you liked the Remix, stick with a Remix in a 59or69.The Dagger Nomad 8.1 is a pretty badass boat too if you want a full on creeker.

Re: Dont know where to go from here
Lets get a Dynamic Duo and run everthing Tandem.
Jed. "Why did you swim"
Me. "I didnt, you did"
Jed. "BullS%&*"
This was our conversation just before getting worked while swimming the ocoee with a 12 foot turd.
I still say you swam first. I felt the water hit my crotch and I heard you scream like a frightened child while we were upside down.

Re: Dont know where to go from here
I dont scream......what you were hearing was a war cry as I was upside down.....the only reason I got out of the boat was because it wasnt water hitting your crotch it was you wetting yourself......I didnt want to sit in a boat full of your piss........

No way man. You popped your skirt and swam!!! It's the same thing everytime you go upside down. You try to roll, can't, and then you swim.jmarine wrote:I dont scream......what you were hearing was a war cry as I was upside down.....the only reason I got out of the boat was because it wasnt water hitting your crotch it was you wetting yourself......I didnt want to sit in a boat full of your piss........
