White River, Beaver Dam to Houseman Saturday
I'm taking my chances on generation tomorrow, going to Eureka Springs to float White River from Beaver Dam to Houseman. After hearing Dusty & Eric's reports from yesterday, I gotta GO! Anyone want to join me?? Come on, it's cold water, nice shady float, and FISH to catch!
I tried getting the generation schedule, but I guess it's not available 'til tomorrow morning early. Like I said, I'll take my chances and go.

Re: White River, Beaver Dam to Houseman Saturday
I'd love to go, but my suburban is still in the shop, now until Monday, as they found out the axle was also bad.$$$$
I got a loaner car, but it wil not hold racks. Got honey do's to keep me busy anyway. Mary hauled me yesterday, and she works this weekend. We also found out you can get two seakayaks on a one boat trailet trailer, but we still need to refine the strapping methods, as they kept shifting and Mary had to stop to check the boats like 4 times on the way home. Nothing damaged other than one of the reflectors we added to her trailer so she can see where it is. That is two we have broken off. Guess I need to go to the next size up in u-bolts or go to metal reflector shafts.
Hope you have a nice float. Take plenty of water to drink.

ps - if you want to see Blue Spring, it is BELOW Houseman access on the right looking down stream, but not far, and you should be able to baddle back up stream to your takeout. Not the best time of year to see it as it is down to a comparative trickle compared to it's winter/spring flows, but it did have some schools of fish when we were there yesterday. I've seen it on some days though, when there were thousands of fish in that little side creek when the water was higher flow from the spring.

the past three Saturdays there hasn't been any generation at all . or at least not until close to dark~30. ..around 5 :30 a cold fog covers the river. about 2 feet tall. and boating traffic picks up late afternoon ..tablerock lake is backed way up allowing the big boat to come up to spider creek area .i have been paddling up from houseman's to just above spider creek trout fishing..

Couple questions :
What is the average water temp for the White this time of year, both generating and not?
What is the typical trip time for a float/paddle from Beaver Dam to the Housman take-out?

Thanks, guys.
I finally got the generation schedule for tomorrow, and it's not good. Like you said, PainterBob, about dark thirty. It is one unit from 4 'til 6. I may go over and try Spring River near Williford/Imboden. I'm hoping to find someone local to go with us. Or possibly check out Current River.
Have a good weekend, wherever you float!

david, it's about a 8 mile float in 48* water .
Re: White River, Beaver Dam to Houseman Saturday
you can check the generation schedule at http://www.swpa.gov/generationschedules.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
even when they generate it is still an easy float and once you get past the bertrand boat launch the river widens and the current seams to subside. Be sure to have a trout stamp on you license if you fish from dam to houseman!
There is a port o let at the Parker Bend handicap fishing area if by chance you need that. Great floating and some nice water
