drop in canoe seats

Post by Jaytee » Thu Jul 22, 2010 8:43 pm

Took the Buffalo out Monday with two adults and my eight year old nephew. We just sat him on the cooler and strapped the cooler to the portage yoke but that was far from perfect.

I realize that I'd like to have a drop in seat for occasional usage. I see a couple of options on the market. I'd prefer something that actually clamps to gunwales are otherwise stays in place in the event of an overturned canoe.

Anyone have recommendations for those occasions when a junior paddler might come along and sit in the middle?

If the hanging center seat isn't what your looking for then another option would be to install a center seat using the standard brackets. Then when you don't want the center seat, just unbolt it from the brackets. Another option would be to use the hanging center seat and, like you said, clamp it down somehow.
