A young Colorado trip report

Post by HunterHobbs » Tue Jul 20, 2010 9:42 pm

We left for Colorado on July 6. :D After stopping for some rest in Amarillo we got to the put in of the Numbers about 3:00. It was pretty cold that afternoon :? and everything went well. The next day we met up with Dale Barton, Andy Monafee, and his daughter Laura  for another great day. The next two days we play boated on Browns Canyon with Michelle and Tommy. Monday we met a family from Durango that had never been down the numbers, so I got to guide them down river in the morning then we had a session at the playpark. Tuesday we headed to the Royal Gorge and we got out to scout a huge rapid named Sunshine. When we were headed back up to run it, I saw my dads boat floating down through Sunshine! :poke: He had to run down river and swim across the bottom of the rapid to get his boat. I got to guide everybody down Sunshine and Sledgehammer! :D I had a GREAT trip and I got 7 runs on the Number 2 on Browns Canyon and 1 on the Royal Gorge. We drove back home on Saturday and got my little brother Clay  (He's 4). We all went to the Mulberry and Clay got to paddle in my old fun 1 for the first time. He did pretty good and only got hot once! I have ran Richland (my favorite 8) ) 20 times since April 2009 and I also have personal first decents on Falling Water, Upper Crooked Creek, and the upper and lower Ocoee this year! I LOVE to kayak!! :D

Wow, that is a big time trip! I've never gotten so many runs out there in one trip! Glad to hear you're getting on some great runs, Hunter!
