Hello to all.

Post by tmankins » Wed Jul 14, 2010 9:43 pm

Hello to everyone. I would like to introduce myself to everyone, my name is Travis Mankins and I am from the river valley area. I am a recreational paddler. I have done some white water rafting, but I enjoy flatwater and slow moving river paddling best. Most of my paddling is solo, so I was hoping to meet some new paddlers and establish some new contacts for future paddling trips. I am always looking for new areas to paddle and explore. I look foward to learing more about the ACC.

Welcome Travis! We will be doing some trips to some of the wetlands of Arkansas in the Fall. A really good place to paddle and see wildlife in your area is the Holla Bend National Wildlife Refuge near Dardanelle. Keep an eye out here for posted trips.

I need to finish my research on that, will get back to you tonight when I get home, but there is a put in by or at the 27 bridge at the mouth of the river there. usually if I am planning an all dayer, it will be around 0900. we can make it earlier or later, which ever is easiest for everyone!

We just look for paddle time

get back to you soon
Bryan

Wow! Thank you for making me feel welcome. Since I introduced myself, I have had several invitations to go paddle. The ACC sounds like a great group of folks and plenty of opportunities to have fun. Thanks again  :)

Not to high-jack you from the first offer, but see Jim Kruger's post on another Sat float if you need a slightly later Saturday start. That's a great float for a rec boat, with a fun rapid at the end which is very managable in a rec boat, but also has waves and play spots that attract kayakers from a 5 state area on some Saturdays - its that fun.
