I know there are plenty of you out there with one of these drytops and my question is which would you prefer, the latex or the neoprene. I mainly do playboating but anytime something is up and i have a chance I'm out there. So heres the question..... Other than comfort what are the pros to having neoprene neck gaskts that would be more comfortable..... Do they let in that much water? I paddle all seasons of the year in case thats something needed. Hope to get some good feedback. Hear from you soon .

Re: Latex gasket vs Neoprene
I've been very satisfied with my Stohlquist drysuit with the neoprene neck gasket and latex wrists. I wear it as late as May and don't roast too bad. The neck gasket is folded back on itself making it two layers so the edge is a fold rather than a cut edge. It is drier and more durable that my Kokatat shorty with a single layer gasket. I don't know about having it repaired if it ever fails, though. I think it would be more difficult than changing a latex gasket. I've also never had a chance to compare the breathability with anything else, but at about half the price of a Kokatat, it breaths good enough! Their drytops appear to have the same gasket construction. Hope this helps!

Re: Latex gasket vs Neoprene
Thanks for the info. One more question.... I'm looking at buying IR's dry-top and dry-pant. I've seen reviews that go both ways on the dry top and very little on the pants. Their Special k skirt is bombproof and customer service in my opinion is up there with Werner which is why i'm using them again. Are their any suggestions to why this may not be the best to buy?
By the way Dave, saw there pretty Rev of yours out at the fishers last saturday. Sure was a pretty green one.
Having withdraws from selling it yet?

No withdrawls, but I did have some good times in that Rev. Right now I'm digging my Dagger ID. I also enjoy being free from the angst that comes from owning more than one kayak.
Cheers!

I can relate to that. Just sold my rev and EzG-50. I sat in a superstar And it was overfrim there......took it home with me that day. I'll always have that creeker for those big runs and for sure Never sell the superstar. It's the funnest/best boat vie owned. Glad to have a fleet that may stay the same for a while.

Re: Latex gasket vs Neoprene
I personally am a latex fan. Of course I suffer from no allergies from latex as of yet, but I hear that can change over the years for some. Neoprene will not seal as tightly as latex, and can be a real pain to get over your head as it doesn't stretch as much. The one Neo top I tried on was way to tight around my neck. I could barely get it on or off. I'm not claustrophobic by any means, but I didn't like the top I tried on. I cannot recall the brand!

I have a Nookie Zone dry top with neoprene neck and hand gaskets - I am latex allergic - it works well and keeps me dry, doesn't leak.
