Strip built 'Wee Lassie' for sale

Post by lsippell » Sat Jul 10, 2010 4:50 pm

I am selling my 'Wee Lassie'. I built her about 18 months ago and enjoyed one season of fun with her. I put her in the water once this year and discovered my arthritis has progressed to where I can't paddle any more. I've had 8 surgeries between both wrist.
She's built of cypress with maple gunwales and walnut and ash accents.
I bought rough lumber and plained, and sawed it into strips, put both sides of them through the plainer and routed both edges of the strips with a canoe bit. The wood strips are matched side to side (ie: 3rd strip on the right came from the board next to the 3rd strip on the left). All in all, it's a nice looking canoe, my wife even said I could hang it from the cathedral ceiling in our house if I wanted to. The inlay you can see in the bottom of it goes all the way through the hull, and shows on the outside. The only metal in it is the two stainless steel machine screws and t-nuts holding the hand caned seat in.
I don't want to part with her, but I'll never use her again and I'd rather someone else enjoy her. I'm asking $800 and that includes an 8 foot double ended paddle that is built to match her.
Email me at louis@lsippell.com or call 501-205-9571
I'm located near Mayflower

What a gorgeous boat. I am so sorry you have to part with it. Wish it was in my budget.
