Warning: Scumbags at Spring Creek access on Buffalo

Post by JasonK » Tue Jul 06, 2010 3:20 pm

Just a friendly heads-up.

A couple weeks ago I left a rental suburban at the Spring Creek access for the Buffalo just off AR Hwy. 14 while we did 3-day run. On the first night some scumbag broke the driver's window, released the hood, popped the trunk, disconnected the battery (and with it the alarm) and then rifled the vehicle for loot. Being a rental there was little in it except an employee's purse. They racked up quite a bit of credit card fraud before she could get the cards cancelled. The bank is making good on it for her.

I know this sort of thing happens and isn't all that uncommon, but I've never had a bit of trouble with it.

Beware, y'all... :(
Cheers,

Jason

i hope you made out a report with the park service, and the rangers, if not call ....1~888~692~1162 and make a late report. they need to be made aware of the problem.

Sorry to hear and thanks for the heads up. Please follow Bob's request. It needs to be uncommon!
You sure this is on the right channel?

I think about the thieving no gooders just about every time I leave a vehicle for an overnight trip. I try not to leave anything of value in the ride, and hope they don't take away my ability to leave when I get back to the ride.

So far so good. Hopefully you won't have to deal with it again, and hopefully if you contact the rangers like painter bob said they'll be able to catch the thieves sooner or later.

Someone in the campground reported it to NPS while we were still on the river. I'll say no more just in case.
Cheers,

Jason
