Head Trip Helmets...and others

Post by kevohudd » Wed May 26, 2010 9:20 pm

I believe I am in the market for a new helmet. I like the Head Trip Daffy, but cannot seem to find any reviews on them. Also, thought about the Predator Lee 8 (bigger than the regular Lee), also no reviews.

Does anyone have a Head Trip helmet, any style of Head Trip helmet?
If so, how do you like it? How does it fit? I have a big long noggin.
I am also open to other recommendations.

Thanks

I have had a hard time finding a helmet to fit. My head measures in the large but is long front to back and narrow side to side.

I ordered a head trip weapon after trying shred ready and grateful heads.

The best thing you can do is call and talk to the lady that takes the order. She recommended a size based on our discussion. I thought it would be too small but she assured me they had a no questions asked exchange policy (even if you order a color and don't like it) and that I could send it back.

For the first time I got a helmet that had room all the way around to pad out. After padding and sanding(dragon skin) I got a great fit. The strap system is comfortable and solid. It is also very well built.

They will customize as well. I asked for extra strap length(as the previous two helmets could just barely buckle with no strap to spare) and after fitting trimmed off about 6" which still left 2" to spare.

In my opinion a great helmet made by a small company in the USA.

As I said, call and talk to them. I don't think you will be dissappointed.

From everything I've been told, Lee helmets are crap. I got talked out of ordering one last winter.

I have a Head Trip Weapon helmet which I really like. It is comfortable, tough and good looking as well.. Comes with some sizing pads that you have to adjust to fit, but if I could figure it out then anyone can. I really like the fit of the Weapon and prefer the brim being lower profile to prevent snagging in whitewater. All that said, I haven't tried Shred ready helmets which are nice as well.

Took a heavy blow to the head from a submerged rock at Rockport yesterday.. helmet was fantastic! The impact surprised me, but the blow was cushioned. I felt fine and happy that my helmet took good care of me!
