USCA Aluminum Canoe Nationals in Arkansas (July 3 and 4)

Post by Donald » Wed Jun 09, 2010 10:10 pm

The Aluminum canoe nationals will be held in Pocahontas, AR on the Current/Black river. There will be mens, womens and junior men and women classes. So dust off those old aluminum canoes and head on over to Pocahontas on July 3rd. On July 4th there will be a Pro race with prize money for the fastest team in a USCA spec 3x27 proboat.

Depending on the design just a couple of tenths mph up to over 1 mph. A Wenonah Sundowner may be as fast. A Coleman RamX on the other hand is horribly slow.

Maybe, if Mike Herbert(3 time olympic paddler that resides here in Arkansas) is in the canoe with you. :D

To sweeten the pot for the juniors. In addition to the travelling trophy and USCA medals, the top junior men and junior women teams will recieve a very nice paddle bag.

I'd Love to do this race, but . . .. .I've got a couple problems.
1) I don't own an aluminum canoe
2) all my paddling buds are occupied that weekend
so . . ..anyone out there who wants to race and has access to an aluminum canoe ??
Any takers?? I'm over 40 so if you are to it would be the masters (11 mile) race. I have lots of canoeing and racing experience and would be in it to try and compete. I have two lightweight bentshaft paddles to contribute to the cause along with paddling experience. If anyone with an aluminum canoe is interested let me know.
