Paddling demos in Bella Vista Saturday June 12th

Post by lakekayaker » Wed Jun 09, 2010 4:37 pm

Hello all, this Saturday, June 12th, from 10 to 3, there will be kayak demo's at Lake Avalon in Bella Vista. Boyd Ruppelt, a professional paddler with Jackson Kayaks, will be there giving tips, demonstrations, etc. Lewis & Clark has just received in about 40 Jackson kayaks, and will have Jackson, Riot and Hobie demos on hand at the event.

The event is sponsored by the Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association, Lewis and Clark Outfitters, Ozark Mountain Trading Co. and the Loch Lomond Marina.

Attached is the link with all the relevant information.

That would truly be impressive. Marty Cronin with Jackson Kayaks said that Boyd rearranged his schedule this week to make sure he attended our event.

I believe Samantha Brunner will be at the L&C Demo, Boyd will be at the Rockport Clinic & Hometown Throwdown, then Samantha will re-join for the Throwdown afterparty/video show at Ouachita Outdoors.

Thanks Jeremy for the heads up - Apparently, there was some confusion. Boyd just called me to let me know that Samantha Brunner will be on hand in Bella Vista this Saturday. Sorry for the confusion:

Welcome Samantha!

Waterhog - I told Jeremy I thought your suggestion of splitting Boyd down the middle was great, and then he told me if I thought that, I obviously didn't care about Boyd - so Boyd is in Rockport and Samantha is in Bella Vista.

Hey guys sorry about the confusion! I found out about this thread a few minutes ago while I was checking my email. not sure about how I feel about being split down the middle  but it's been suggested before...

I was actually supposed to be a bunch of different places this weekend... all at once  so I had a talk with Marty and Sam and I guess while we were working out some pretty interesting logistics lots of information got thrown around... Marty just knew we had it covered but in the mean time I had to work everything out with Samantha. since I tend to be better at clinics and she tends to be better at demos (she's not near as ADD as I am and WAY better looking too...) we decided everyone would be best served if she took on the demo and I took on the clinic... I can't wait for the day when I can be everywhere at once, but in the mean time I had to pick one :?

Now she is my fiance'... but aside from that Samantha is not only an awesome photographer, she is a stellar kayaker as well. Funny enough she is the opposite of most women. Her specialty is creeking and waterfalls instead of the normal playboating and freestyle. Definitely stop by and ask her for tips on outfitting, technique, or any other questions you have. This girl knows what she's talking about.

Sam's profile: http://jacksonkayak.com/regional-team/samantha-brunner/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
From Eric Jackson:
"Over the past few years you have seen many incredible photos of Boyd appear in the CKS catalog, the Snap Dragon ads, the Stolquist ads, etc., and they were all shot by Sam, who is a professional photographer in every sense of the word, and a photography student in Memphis at the same time. Well, Sam doesn’t just stay behind the camera. She puts the camera in her boat and runs just about everything Boyd does these days, that is when she isn’t skydiving out of planes with him!"

While I think you guys may have gotten the better end of the deal, definitely my better half, I think this will work out best for everyone involved... but if you go to the demo (and it sounds awesome) check out the new Journey... it's AMAZING!

Just want to say Boyd and Sam are great - great boaters, great people and a ton of fun to just hang out with. They work hard and play hard ALL the time.

Sam let me use her own personal kayak in '09 at a whitewater clinic. Luckily for me she was small like me, so it worked out perfectly.

Have fun at the demo - I will be doing a river clean up on the Findley and hopefully then the Buffalo. Have to have a weekend to give back to the river. Although no matter what I do I don't think I could ever give back to the river what the river gives to me.

Sam and Boyd it would be great to see you guys again! Take care

Steph

I got to try out the Villain and a 2010 Star

I really liked how the Villain turned, and it rolled easy even without hip pads! I am thinking my Hero might be for sale here soon.

The Star was very different from my older 2 Fun; there is not really a stern in comparison and the center of gravity is a bit different. With most of the volume up front, I kept back decking my roll. I wish I could have gotten in a 2010 2 Fun to see the difference in the model change.

A big thanks to OMTC and Lewis & Clark for putting on the demo day.

Hey Boyd, glad you made it to Rockport again, it's been too long. It was good getting to boat with you again and hang out with everyone from out of town that I don't get to see as often. Zachary had a great time, and we made it back for his birthday party just in time. Sorry we couldn't stay and go to the movie preview with everyone, but hopefully next time.
Boyd, next time you get a chance to come down you should check out Dierks if it's running. I'll link some video of Wister for you too. Nothin but potential there.
Peace,
Joe
