Saturday Float on the Upper Ouachita River, Dragover Section
Several of us are going to float the Upper Ouachita River, Dragover Section tomorrow. Interested parties are welcome, bring your lunch&drinks. We will meet at the Dragover Campground about Eleven O Clock in the morning to leave vehicles, consolidate, and...
Depending on the group of paddlers&preferences, we may even put in at the Sims Bridge tomorrow as the water level will be fairly frisky, making just a real nice run. About 8 miles or so if we don't paddle the 3 1/2 mile Dragover Section alone.
I''ll check the net again about 7am and see you all who are coming on the river. My cell # is 501 and 860-8323 but I won't have coverage much past 9:30 am as we leave Hot Springs.
Best Regards
Jim

Yes, we'll meet at the Dragover Campground at 11am. I'm not sure where we'll put in, most probably a short distance above Dragover to as far as the Sims bridge depending on everyones wishes for float length.

What a great float yesterday! We had about a dozen folks and floated from the Sims Bridge down through the Dragover section. With the decent water level and warmer weather, I certainly enjoyed the float as well as the swimming sessions during rest stops. Thank you all for coming, it was so nice to float along and visit, laugh, and enjoy the day :) All this and a very nice Mexican supper in Hot Springs!
Best Regards

Thank YOU, Jim! I am sort of a "shadow paddler" who has been reading the posts for quite some time, until Saturday when I joined your Dragover Flotilla. I had a great time, met great people, and even enjoyed dumping over on the BIG rock I call Screaming Girl Rock. (I have head a grown man scream like a girl as he rode up on the side of it prior to being ejected from his SOT, and I doubt he has been the only one to do so. *grins*)
I was very happy to meet Minna. She and I treked up to Big Piney the next day for the Annual Memorial Day Race and had so much fun we came in very last, over an hour and a half behind the winner!

Had a great time Sat paddling again with Jim, Marlo, Gary, Karla and Ann. Was glad to meet some other El Do paddlers... Minna, Mike and Susan as well as meeting Donna from
. Very enjoyable day; y'all kept me from having to mow the yard. Yes, the swimming was very refreshing. Donna, IF your referring to MY swim at House Rock Rapid it was a curse not a scream.
You women really do stick together; I see no mention of Felicia's rock climbing adventure at all.
I must admit there is a certain satisfaction of looking back up-river during a "swim" and discovering that you aren't the only one swimming. Had a water level view of your demise from just down-river. Guess I was the lead domino. The meal in HS afterward was also a very good time. Look forward to getting together with this group again in the future.
Chris
P.S. Thinking of naming my yak "Rock Magnet" or "Rock Hound"

Well,,, Chris, I actually didn't hear your scream...er..curse. I first noticed you were doing something different when I saw you below the rock attemping to set up a river detour.
I then saw Felicia scurrying out of her boat and up the rock.
Not being familiar with the group mechanics, I was afraid I wouldn't fit in since I didn't bring snorkling or rock climbing gear, so I decided I would just try something different also by body surfing the chute.
Did you think I accidently tipped over
I apologize if I caused you confusion.

I'm glad everyone had as fun-spirited a day as i did! Speaking of more paddling, in the very near future (as our Spring-time haunts are starting to get low) I recommend we start enjoying some Remmel Dam to Rockport floats :) Cool clear waters!
Until next float, Best Regards
